Sweet Summertime Cats

Another Surtex art licensing trade show has come and gone this past May and I’ve been  busy with the follow-up.  I’ve also been working on some Summer designs with my Happy CatZ™ and Happy DogZ™. Designs like this one showing a boy and girl cat both eating ice cream and giving each other googly eyes. You remember googly eyes don’t you?

And a few designs I’m working on with my dogs are a Jack Russell Terrier dog surfing, a Pug dog relaxing in his beach tube with his favorite summer drink. And I’m thinking of something with a Bulldog, hmmm, maybe he’s grilling?

It’s been a beautiful summer here in the Santa Fe area! I just love the smells of summer. Especially first thing in the morning when I take the dogs outside and hear all of the birds chirping… just heaven.

I See The Moon Design

I’ve been working with my little — I See the Moon design and creating more product ideas with it like the Sweet Dreams moon pillow design above. I think this would look great in a baby nursery. I’m showing a baby blue color but adding a pink and some other gender neutral colors.

I just opened a Zazzle shop where you can purchase my NEW Sweet Dreams moon Pillow! If you want to order my Sweet Dreams Moon Pillow design —- > CLICK HERE! Zazzle was the only POD site that had the round pillow design. And I just may have to order one for myself to see the quality. I have not sold any of my work on a POD company though I know a lot of artists do. My goal has been to license my art. So until that happens, I thought I would make it available for people to buy it! But I would really LOVE is to license this design to a wonderful baby company like Pottery Barn Kids, Land of Nod or maybe Oopsy Daisy! Or maybe some other baby product companies.

I Believe in Unicorns

I believe in Unicorns… do you?  I illustrated this unicorn for a nursery room wall art print, but it never made it into my Etsy shop. I actually took everything out of my shop and am rethinking the whole shop thing. I may add some content that is downloadable art. Still thinking about it. I found shipping out the Esty prints to be an unproductive break in my day. So if I do prints again I’ve got to explore better production and shipping methods. Any suggestions? I am hoping that if I get some samples of my licensed products that I’ll sell this in my shop. Stay tuned!

Anyway… back to this Unicorn! These magical little creatures seem to be trending very strongly in any shape or style. Since I had started with a wall art print design, I decided that it would like kinda cool as a fabric pattern. So that’s what you see to the right of the Unicorn design. I also love how the creams and teal colors look on the brown fabric ground. Such a whimsical pattern that I’m going to add more colorways also.

Keeper of the Bees

Here is a new design that I created for a wall art challenge on The Art Licensing Show. I’ve been wanting to do this concept for awhile but it felt a bit overwhelming to me. Sometimes I know what i want to create but I’m not sure how it’s going to come together. So with this concept I started doing a lot of research on Botanical illustration, Victorian gardens, bees, bee keeping, lots of garden illustrations etc, etc. Then I did the illustration in a step by step process starting with the Beekeeper girl.

See My Art ~ Surtex 2017

It’s Surtex time again and I’m so happy to say that my art is finally making it back to this premier art licensing trade show with my agent Suzanne Cruise Creative Services, Inc. Surtex, is an annual Art Licensing  trade show in New York city for Artists, Designers, Manufacturers, and Retailers. It’s now in its 32nd year! SURTEX® is the global B2B marketplace for sourcing original art & designs — where artists, art agents, licensing agencies and licensors connect with manufacturers, retailers and licensees to create products in multiple categories. Home décor and furnishings, apparel, automotive accessories, beauty, bed and bath, fabric prints, floor coverings, juvenile, giftware and novelties, stationery, tabletop, wall treatments, private label and much more. If it’s any product with a surface or textile design of any kind, there’s a good chance it originated at SURTEX.

My agent Suzanne Cruise, has been doing Surtex for decades and their booth this year is #2909.

Coffee Wall Art Collection

I’ve had a coffee collection on my list for awhile and finally was able to get to it.  I’m a coffee lover myself! I wanted to create some designs that were more graphic and contemporary looking.  And I always tend to have some bright colors come out in my work. I started with Java as the first design to establish the look and color palette. Then the design elements started to come into the design.

Bite Me ~ Vampire Halloween Cat

Halloween products are so popular in art licensing and I’m always looking for ideas on how to promote my art on products. So I got this idea to put a black vampire cat from my Happy CatZ™ collection onto a throw pillow. And then I had a thought to add the cute words… “bite me” to the design!. Haha! Made me laugh! This is just a mockup of the design onto a throw pillow but I’m thinking of opening up a POD shop )Print on Demand) to be able to sell this design on throw pillows until it gets licensed. I’m also going to do some of my dog images from my Happy DogZ™ collection  in the same concept. So far I’ve got my black Scottie Dog done in the design! Check back to see how you can order these throw pillows for Halloween!

Dachshund Dog Sledding

merry christmas dachshund sledding art licensing

Here is my Dachshund Sledding illustration. I did this design as part of my Advent Christmas countdown in December 2015. It was the first time that I tried to keep up with doing an illustration a day for the whole 24 day countdown until Christmas. So this was where he first showed up. Since then, I’ve made a tradition red color version instead of the pink and teal these. I also developed him into a greeting card design that says, “Dachshund thru the snow…” which I think is so funny!.I love this little illustration so much, maybe at some point I’ll make a little animation with him sledding along.

Unicorn Dreams… Looking at the Stars

This Unicorn Dreams illustration came out of an Illustrated Quote Art Challenge for the Art Licensing Show. I was imagining a unicorn looking at the stars and dreaming. Which is honestly something I often do. I have always been a star-gazer… And of course the quote is from Van Gogh, who really has so many lovely quotes circulating out there in the blogosphere. Though I can’t remember if I found the quote first and then I had the image to go with it or the other way around.

I love that unicorns are such magical creatures. Which is why I gave this one some curly tendrils for hair and freckles on his face. And the color is not a bright white but more of slight off-white which has more contrast against the teal background.
